The Faith and Bones of Joseph

By Royce Frederick

Joseph continually showed great faith (Gen. 37-50). But Hebrews 11 mentions only this part of his faith: “By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones” (Heb. 11:22). So, as Israel left Egypt, “...Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, ‘God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you’” (Ex. 13:19). Joseph believed God’s promises!

If we “...walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7), trusting and obeying God’s word, He will take us to His eternal home to live with Him forever (Jn. 14:1-3, 15; Rom. 10:17; Rev. 2:10; 20:11-21:5)!
