Pharaoh's Fear of Failure

By Royce Frederick

Pharaoh’s fear of failure led to his failure: “...he said to his people, ‘Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; (10) come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land...But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew…” (Ex. 1:9-10, 12). God heard their cry of anguish and delivered them out of Egypt.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, (3) knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. (4) But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (Jas. 1:2-4; see 1 Pet. 1:6-9; 4:12-16; Rom. 5:3-5). We need to act from faith, not fear (Matt. 25:25-30; 1 Jn. 4:17-19).
