God’s Blessings and Approval

By Royce Frederick

A man says, “God has restored my health. Therefore, I know He approves of me, and I know I am one of His chosen people.” Is that statement true? God is the giver of “every good gift” (James 1:17). But do His blessings mean He approves of my life?

God blesses “the evil” and “the good” (Matt. 5:45; Acts 14:17). So, which one am I?

His blessings prove His goodness, not my goodness. His goodness toward me is not evidence that I have no need to obey Him. Instead, His goodness should lead me to repentance (Rom. 2:4). He loved me before I loved Him. I should return His love by obeying His gospel and serving Him from a faithful, loving heart.
